I really love to fish but there is no better enjoyment for me than Wade Fishing. Being out there knee deep in a stream catching small mouth bass or trout is amazing. I have wade fished some great rivers in the eastern united states. Yeah you can fish from the bank but you are at a disadvantage. By Wade Fishing you can fish near the bank or the middle of the stream. The great thing is you can start at one point and just wade for as long as you want. I always start at one spot and fish upstream for about a mile. One of my favorite places for wade fishing is the New River that runs through Virginia and West Virginia. You would not believe some of the Small Mouth Bass that are caught out of there. It's not unusual to catch a 22" small mouth bass.
Wade fishing allows you to fish areas that you normally couldn't get to. Say if there is a spot in the stream or river that is inaccessible from the bank. You can just wade right down to it. Plus wade fishing does not restrict you from places that a boat can't go.
I guess the big appeal to me is getting out there in the water. I love how refreshing it is to just wade around in the cool water and enjoy nature. You can guarantee that that there are streams and rivers very close to where you live that offer great Wade Fishing. I never realized how many streams were within a few miles of me that offered such great fishing.
Just remember to always wear a life jacket when wade fishing. A lot of the streams that I fish are a bit swift in places. You should always remember safety first. Waders are another thing that a lot of people use. You can buy several different types of waders. The only problem with waders are that if you fall, the waders can fill with water and weight you down. Since a lot of streams will have deep spots that are not always visible this can be a concern. Just be careful when you are wading any stream because you can get seriously hurt. If you have never tried Wade Fishing then I suggest you give it a try. It's kinda like extreme fishing.
